Newsfire has always been my default RSS reader since it came out. That was until NetNewsWire 3.0 was released. I gave it a shot and never went back. That is for different features that are still missing in Newsfire and one of them (that I really love) is the ability to choose the design of the story display. While there are quite a lot of default designs available, I wanted to have something a bit more personal and started digging in the ressources files to check how to modify the styles. And I found out that they are basic html files styled by CSS. I then decided to make my own. I started to mod an existing file, then created one and within 3 hours I was up to 7 new files!

I thought that some of you are NNW users and would be interested in trying the styles I made, so here they are and free of use of course. A special thanks to Chris Clark for allowing me to use a bit of the code he made for his “mail” style. 7 styles are available for download below. To install them, just double click the files and follow the onscreen intructions. Enjoy ;)

This first style focuses on grids. I tried to make it sober, yet elegant and easy on the eyes. It comes in three colors variants (blue, green and orange).
